Hallo Community,
jetzt das erste mal EasyVDR installiert und schon habe ich eine Frage: Ich habe einen D-Link DWL122 USB WLAN Stick. Aber ich bekomme das Ding irgendwie nicht ans rennen. Chipsatz ist laut vdrportal ein prism2. Der ist auch ausgewählt aber ich habe eine WPA-Verschlüsselung. Wo muss ich denn das Passwort eintragen ?

Stebimmt... nun hab ich mir schon den Wolf gesucht und trotzdem nix gefunden...
Jetzt bin ich auch ein gutes Stück weiter, aber bin irgendwie zu doof den richtigen Treiber einzustellen. Ich brauche lt. vdr-portal (http://www.vdr-portal.de/board/thread.php?threadid=48636&hilight=dwl+122) einen prism2 treiber.
Allerdings finde ich nur den prism54 treiber ?

Mit dem DWL122 hast Du ein Problem. Ich hab den auch. Das blöde ist, das der RA_USB Treiber nicht funktioniert. Man muss sich den Treiber von der Ralinktech Website selber kompilieren. Ich habs leider auf EasyVDR noch nicht gemacht. Unter Ubuntu hatte ich den damit mal am Laufen. Zusätzlich kommt hinzu, das der Ralink Treiber nicht das Interface WLAN0 benutzt, sondern RAUSB0. D.h. wahrscheinlich kann man bei Easyvdr einiges umfrickeln.
Aber wie gesagt, genaueres kann ich bzgl. Easyvdr noch nicht sagen. Ich hab ihn noch nicht wieder eingerichtet.

Wenn es mit dem Kompilieren des originären Treibers nicht funktioniert, könnte man immer noch ndiswrapper zusammen mit den Windows-Treibern probieren, der ja nach ein paar Kniffen gut funktioniert. (hier mit einem AVM-Stick)

Ist natürlich auch wieder richtig.
Der native Treiber hat allerdings einen riesen Vorteil: echtes Plug&Play. Unter Ubuntu war ich da fertig mit der Welt. Stick anstecken. 10 Sekunden später Verbindung. Stick rausziehen. Klar, keine Verbindung mehr. Wieder anstecken. 10 Sekunden. Verbindung. Wirklich stark. Der Witz ist, das man beim Ralink-Treiben nicht mal wpa-supplikant und sowas braucht. WPA beherrscht und managed der Treiber selbst. Auch das Hoch und Runterfahren des Interfaces macht der Treiber. Ich fand das echt beeindruckend.
Ach so, in den Sourcen des Ralink-Treibers muss man vorm Kompile noch die Vendor-ID und Device-ID des D-Link eintragen. Die ist standardmäßig nicht drin und dadurch wird der Stick sonst auch nicht erkannt.

Damit Du nicht umsonst wartest: Ich habs noch nicht hinbekommen. Anscheinend ist bei EasyVDR schon der richtige Treiber für unseren Stick dabei. Aber ans Laufen hab ich es noch nicht bekommen. Aber ich forsche weiter.

Ich konnte noch nicht weiter experimentieren. Wegen Umbauarbeiten an der Wohnung komm ich zur Zeit nicht an den Rechner. Meine letzten Versuche waren jedenfalls erfolglos. Sorry.

Das wäre natürlich was... aber ein USB-Stick wäre für mich aber passender... muss ich mal die Augen auf halten... Danke schonmal...

ich denke ich werde mir einen anderen USB-WLAN Stick kaufen :( kennt einer von euch einen Stick, der auf anhieb funktioniert ???

USB-Stick weiß ich nicht. Allerdings hab ich ne PCMCIA-Karte mit einem Atheros 5212 Chipsatz. Der lief auf Anhieb. Allerdings unter Archlinux. Easyvdr hab ich nicht auf dem Rechner.
Vielleicht findest Du ja einen USB-Stick mit besagtem Atheros Chip. So einen würd ich mir auch gleich noch kaufen. Die PCMCIA-Karte geht unter Linux besser als unter Windoof.

Also USB-Sticks mit Atheros-Chipsatz gibts auf jeden Fall. Schau mal bei Ebay nach TP-Link. Von dem Hersteller ist meine PCMCIA-Karte. Die haben aber auch PCI und USB Versionen. Schon komisch. Meine Netgear PCMCIA-Karte hat nur Probleme gemacht. Vor allem unter Linux. Aber auch unter Windows war die nicht so der Brüller. Und die absolute Billigkarte von nem Hersteller, den es nur bei Ebay gibt, funktionier völlig problemlos. Sowohl unter Windows als auch Linux.
EDIT: Die richtigen Treiber für die Atheros-Karten sind die Madwifi.
