At the 'Usertreffen 2012' Sinai asked if a version with lcars can be made. So I tried it. But the Lcars skin isn't working on the vip1710  :'(

Thank you. Maybe i will try an update...

Do you know if its possible to compile the radio plugin ?
http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/Radio-plugin

With them and without of an LCD you can setup a good Radio...

Radio should work. But no radiotext or rass. Something filters the data stream, just lik ttxtsubs isn't working.

Maybe later today I'll compile it. Now it is too hot to do anything.

VIP1710 is fairly popular thing in Finland too and works fairly well here too. One annoying big issue in our perspective exist. Finnish National Broadcasting company is using DVB-T subtitles and it is not "burned" to picture. This is supported in VDR versions used in this VIP distro but for some reason these subtitles never work. Best guess given in Finnish forums is that it is related to graphic capabilities of VIP and there is not enough power or colors to do it.

I don't think it is the power or color limit. Because ttxtsubs won't work, but if I use the teletext module and select page 888 there are subs displaMyed. RDS/ Radiotext won't work.
Looks like the VIP is not getting all the data in the stream or the drivers aren't able to process it.

Driver of what??

My point is that DVB-T subtitles are supported in VDR core for a long time and in a computer version of VDR with versions used for VIP they are working immediately. The question is then what differs in VIP version of VDR compared to computer version of VDR to block this thing out? My IT skills are not enought to say what that difference really is - except of course hardware in VIP is way more limited than in real computer.

I really don't know what the problem is. When I compile the source for I386 there are subs, when I take the same source and compile it for VIP1710 there are no subs.

Maybe the writer of the vip1710 plugin knows the answer, H.W. Hilse.

So you mean that there is a separate plugin against VDR to make it really work in VIP1710 and that plugin probably drops something out from stream. So VIP is not platform to run small linux where VDR runs but there is something else between VDR and VIP 1710 too.

Sorry my lack of understanding - I am not very good on this.

The vip1710 uses an output module, like the dvbSDdevice, dvbHDdevice, Xine, xineliboutput. Maybe that modules drops some parts from the stream.
That is the part writen by HW Hilse.

And the Vip is only a Client. So you need a VDR server. Never had a Vip1720 to test if it works with the built in DVB-T card.

Now this starts to make sense - so what is written in VIP1710 output module probably causes this. And if someone is good enough for that he/she could probably see the problem. I do not have such skills.

I have this VIP running nicely and it works with my VDR server - having DVB-T texts would just make sense to me and other Finnish users as national broadcasting company is using those.

Thanks for clarification - though the orginal problem still exists :-)
