Had some spare time made some changes.
vdr 1.7.21
Patched with extpngvdr1.7.21v1, SwitchOnly_1.7.15, timercmd-0.1_1.7.17, vdr.epgsearch-exttimeredit-0.0.2, vdr-1.6.0-ignore_missing_cam, vdr-1.7.16-no-setprio, vdr-1.7.21-cap_net_raw, vdr-1.7.21-ttxtsubs
Started with soft OSD, rightnow only osdbase patch is done, next is to do vip1710osd.
Because of the setup patch I copied the easyvdr 0.8.6 xml files, removed some of the settings not needed for the vip1710.
So the basic look is just like an other Easyvdr system.
Not working Ttxtsubs, bgprocess, locale still doesn't work but with the setup.xml files you can translate the menu entries to German.

Same source is running on my server -> easyvdr 0.8.6 with vdr 1.7.21

I was very busy the last weeks :)
But some days ago i got an email from this board that for the vip1710 is a new
release available.
Right now i´m busy again... but i will try your new version between christmas
and new year :D

This one is called beta, because of all the changes. So it might not run great.
But I'm running it on my main box over here without problems.

thanks for providing a newer version.
I just tested your file.
It's not working on my box :-\
It restarts vdr all the time.
after investigating a little bit.
channels.conf was not found
(it's searched in /mnt/etc/channels.conf not in /mnt/etc/channels/channels.conf)
after changing ALL_PLUGINS to
ALL_PLUGINS= -Pstreamdev-client -Pextrecmenu -Psvdrpservice -Premotetimers -Pvip1710
and removing the the while ..... around vdr start in runvdr.sh i got

the channels.conf seams to have an error because after changing it to a short one with only 2 channnels of my vdr its not longer shown as error while reading ...
but i did not get a video signal at all
may be the problem is the 16_9 format ?
i am using an old 4:3 by scart connectivity
i can run the version of Martin without problems
may be to switch video output somehow to SCART ?
any idea ?
yes i changed the ips to my vdr and the box connects as expected.
so i assume video output selection....
edit: no OSD too

Like easyvdr channels are in channels/*.conf. The main channel.conf is only a link.
channels.conf not found is a link problem. With fat you can't have sym links.
My main box is broken and I haven't found the time to build an other programming/compiling/development box.
Not starting can have a lott of reasons. What does the log file say?
Most of the starting problems I had are related to 'noice on the bus', killing and restarting vdr worked.

I investigated a little bit further and have had some success :)
there is no link to channel.conf in / or /etc in your tar file
but thats no problem
i am using now my channels.conf from server
i changed in setup.conf
InitialChannel =
to
InitialChannel = 1
now it starts ... but
runvdr.sh is a endless loop
and for whatever reason it is "restarting VDR" permenantly ...
i removed the loop in runvdr.sh

i have no /ramdisk ....
next i removed this from etc/sysconfig and killed the vdr processes
reboot starts now with promgram one and runs :)
remote did not work for me
i have a "Pollin IR Keyboard Merlin" keyboard
only Ok and all digits are working :-\
but i can change channels now
someone have a lirc.conf file for this keyboard ?
i have one but it seems not to fit exactly
would be nice to have my own programming/compiling/development environment.
but currently i have no idea how this has to be setup.
assume cross compiler for arm?

and can see that the lirc works perfectly ...
so mapping of vdr is the problem

I called this one Beta, because I changed a lott of things.
The compiler kitt can be found on webpages of HW Hilse, the author of the VDR-Vip1710 plugin without it this all wasn't possible. (http://hilses.de/vip1710/)
For the remote, what if you remove the remote.conf and start VDR. Normaly you should get a learn remote screen.

There is a serial port on the mainboard. So it should work.
Once there was a Graphlcd plugin which send the data to be displayed on a Betty remote.
Too bad it can't be found anymore.

Hallo
Ich hab nun endlich mal die VIP1710 ausprobiert, aber so richtig komme ich nicht weiter
Was habe ich getan:
Nach Martins Anleitung vorgegangen:

Nochmals (ohne usb Stick) per telnet auf die Box und checken ob es das file "/yes-sir-we-can-boogie" gibt . Dann war die Aktion erfolgreich und es kann mit dem USB Stick weitergehen.
Datei ist vorhanden
Dann hab ich die Beta 0.5 auf den Stick entpackt, channels.conf identisch zum Streamdev-server geändert, setup.conf die IP des Servers eingetragen. eingesteckt und Box resettet
Und flackerte beim booten der USB-Stick längere Zeut, dann kam kurz etwas, was aussah wie eine Kanalanzeige und der Rest ist schwarzes Bild (das hatte ich doch grade erst...)
Jemand eine Idee?

Dann hatte ich die Idee meine Fernbedienung anzulernen und dazu die remote.conf weggesichert - es kommt auch der Dialog, dass man eine Taste drücken soll - tue ich, aber der Anlerndialog geht nicht weiter.

Nun habe ich Martins Image auf den Stick kopiert. Jetzt klappt das soweit.
Folgende Probleme gibt es noch:
- Ausschalten: VDR meldet "Schalte später aus - erneut für Force" - nochmal Power, dann erscheint in rot: "Shutdown option -s not given"
Mal sehen, wie ich das hinbekomme
- Sprache auf deutsch umstellen - Englisch ist für meine Kinder zu schwierig
- Einbinden der Aufnahmen

Hab noch eine lirc.conf und remote.conf für meine Hauppauge-FB gefunden. Das geht jetzt.
Nur beim Setup bekomme ich "invalid configuration file"

Seit zweieinhalb Stunden suche ich mir einen Wolf, finde aber nichts, wie der Shutdown geregelt ist (geht das bei dir Martin - ist dein Image) und auch nfs-Freigaben kann ich nicht mounten, weder in plugrc noch manuell - ich bekomme immer
mount -t nfs 192.168.2.250:/media/easyvdr01/video0 /video0
mount: Mounting 192.168.2.250:/media/easyvdr01/video0 on /video0 failed: No such device
Aber am client existiert /video0 - und auch /mnt/video bringt die gleiche Meldung
Testhalber am Desktop
mount -t nfs 192.168.2.250:/media/easyvdr01/video0 /home/andreas/mnt
und ich sehe alle Aufnahmen
andreas@desktop:~$ showmount -e 192.168.2.250
Export list for 192.168.2.250:
/media/easyvdr01/video0 192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0
Freigaben auch okay.
Also für mich ist das gerade maximal anstrengend - ich bin mit meinem Latein am Ende.
Kann ich das Teil evtl. zum Usertreffen mitbringen und wir versuchen das da nochmal gemeinsam Martin?
Ohne die drei Punkte im Posting vorher macht das für meine Familie keinen Sinn

Would it be possible to get from somewhere a tar-file with the complete build-environment for the VIP1710? It would be easier to join forces when having many people playing around with compiling plugins and maybe writing neede patches :-)

-Deutsch geht bei meinem Image noch nicht. (Mein Image ist nur das von H.W. Hilse + ein paar Treiber + Plugins mehr) Dazu brauchst Du ein Image von TV-User
-Shutdown: Geht m.E generell nicht. Einfach ausschalten !
-mounten geht nicht mit der üblichen Syntax.
Muster wie es geht (NFS müsste analog dazu laufen):
#Martin; geht sicher noch besser...
insmod cifs
mount.cifs //192.168.1.2/vdr /mnt/video -o user=vdr,password=XXXXXXXXXXXX
DU brauchst wohl den Part ab start-nfs...
